Please see CONTACTS above for my email address.

ASKING PRICE   £4450

Here is our Cornish Coble – a great 16 foot dinghy for pottering, family sailing for  up to 4 adults and a couple of children, and for camping trips for one or two people.  We have owned it for 8 years and used it in years when we haven’t chartered a yacht in Scotland.  It comes fully equipped and ready to launch, with a decent road trailer and a 4 hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard that has been carefully looked after while we have had it, and has always performed reliably and started perfectly.   The boat is set up for dinghy cruising, with echo sounder/fishfinder, compass and hand held GPS set, plus a handy galley storeage drawer with stove and kettle ( in our view essential equipment).  It has an almost new Fortress FX-11 aluminium anchor – light and efficient – with 30 m warp, 10m are weighted.  There is storeage under the foredeck for equipment and there is one 40mm judo mat floor mattress for a berth on the cockpit sole of over 6ft in length.  The custom made lightweight waterproof  tent is ideal for camping in good weather and is easily erected and taken down while aboard – its light and airy inside too.  Oars and a removable thwart mean it can be rowed efficiently.   The Cornish Coble is a very well built and substantial dinghy with a lug mainsail and roller furling jib – with a loose footed mainsail so no danger of getting clouted by the boom in a gybe.  The outboard and rudder fit through a gap ahead of the transom and are thus  protected. The centreboard lifts and she floats in around 250 mm – 300 mm of water.  Cornish Cobles come from  the well known  Cornish brand and are substanitally built to a high standard – they last very well and keep their value – these are not modern ‘blown together’ boats!

We have found Eowyn to be a safe and comfortable boat for family sailing – she sails well and feels secure and is ideal for estuary sailing – we have sailed her in the River Orwell on the East Coast and also on the Fal estuary and Penzance Bay in Cornwall, and with an intrepid crew we’ve had her out in the open sea.  I’ve sailed and camped single handed in her around the Blackwater and around Mersea Island and the Colne – great fun and plenty of room for lots of gear.  They make ideal family boats, a good way to introduce  young children to sailing too. I have enjoyed sailing her, and can’t think of a dinghy I’d prefer, but now we have a 38ft Moody available to us on the West Coast of Scotland so won’t really have an opportunity to sail Eowyn.

Unfortunatelsy I don’t have any photos of her sailing – haven’t really worked out how to do that without a drone so these are all up to date and onshore;-
